Biography
I am a postdoctoral fellow at the Department of Computing Science, University of Alberta, under supervision of Prof. Denilson Barbosa since April 2010. I completed my Ph. D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the Catholic University of Korea in February 2010, and Prof. Byung-Yeon Hwang was my advisor during my graduate studies. The purpose of my doctoral research was to develop a search engine for blogs. The search engine checks for update of each blog in a specific time which was predicted based on the blog owner's preferred time for posting. Recently, I am interested in social network analysis, and the title of my current research is "information network extraction over time." The goal of this research is to identify current relationships among entities such as people, locations, and organizations. We believe its result will be helpful to reduce wrong information and to keep automatically extracted information fresh. At the same time, another research which to analyse data from Twitter or blogs for detecting events is conducting with Prof. Hwang. For details, please refer to my CV.
